1984: A Single Mould, A Big Vision
In 1984, Anupam Plastics & Allied Industries was established in the Kupwad MIDC (Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation) industrial zone in Sangli, Maharashtra. The founders chose plastic injection moulding for textile yarn carriers — a niche but essential product category that the rapidly growing Indian textile industry needed in large and reliable quantities. Starting with a handful of moulds and a small team, Anupam Plastics began manufacturing plastic solid cones for the spinning mills of Maharashtra.
Sangli, in southern Maharashtra, was already home to a large and active textile industry — particularly sugar-related agro-processing and growing textile units in the Kolhapur-Sangli belt. Kupwad MIDC provided the infrastructure — power, water, and road access — needed to establish a small-scale manufacturing operation. The founders understood that precision, consistency, and reliable delivery would be the hallmarks that would distinguish Anupam Plastics from cheaper, less consistent competitors.
The 1990s: Building the Product Range
Through the 1990s, Anupam Plastics steadily expanded its product range. Perforated dye tubes and dye cones were added to serve the growing yarn dyeing segment. Plastic solid tubes for TFO twisting machines and winding machines were introduced. The company invested in additional moulds to cover a wider range of conicity angles and bore dimensions, making it possible to serve a broader cross-section of Indian textile machinery users.
This period also saw the first steps toward export markets. Textile mills in Bangladesh — then emerging as a major garment manufacturing hub — began sourcing plastic cones from Indian manufacturers. Anupam Plastics established its first export relationships during this decade, laying the foundation for what would become a significant international business.
The 2000s: Quality Systems and Export Scale-Up
As India's textile industry modernised and globalised through the 2000s, quality standards became more demanding. International textile brands sourcing from Indian mills began specifying quality requirements that flowed back through the supply chain to component manufacturers like Anupam Plastics. The company responded by systematising its quality control processes — implementing dimensional inspection routines, material testing protocols, and batch traceability records.
Export volumes grew significantly during this period as Anupam Plastics established buyer relationships across Southeast Asia. Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Sri Lanka all became regular customers, recognising the consistency and value that Anupam Plastics' products offered compared to European alternatives at considerably lower cost.
The 2010s: Diversification and Modernisation
The 2010s brought deliberate diversification. Recognising that the injection moulding capability and machinery at Kupwad MIDC could serve sectors beyond textiles, Anupam Plastics began developing products for the corrugated pipe industry and the electrical components sector. Plastic end caps and plugs for paper tubes and cores became an important product line, serving India's growing packaging and paper industry as well as export-oriented manufacturers needing robust tube-end protection.
Today: Four Decades, Global Reach
In 2024, Anupam Plastics marked its 40th year of operation. The company now exports to over 100 countries across Asia, Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas. The product range covers plastic solid cones in 9+ standard specifications, perforated dye tubes and cones in multiple perforation patterns, plastic solid tubes for twisting and winding, plastic end caps in 9 sizes, and injection moulded components for allied industries.
The founding principle — precision, consistency, and reliable delivery — remains unchanged after four decades. Experience the Anupam Plastics difference for your textile operation.
